Welcome to Ashfield & Mansfield Liberal Democrats

Jason Zadrozny campaigning for Ashfield

Our Ten Pledges for a better Ashfield

The Labour controlled County Council has the highest tax bills of any County Council. We will keep bills down by cutting red tape and axing Labour's spin machine.

Cracking down on crime is a key priority for the Liberal Democrats. We will work with the police and District Councils to take further action to make our streets safer.

We will reverse Labour's decision to close local care homes. We will also cut the cost of the home help service which has gone up massively under Labour.

Many of Ashfield's roads and pavements are in a terrible state of disrepair. We will invest £15million into bringing them up to standard.

We will scrap Labour's plans to turn the Bentinck Void into Europe's largest landfill site - causing misery to local people.

We will take further action to cut the flooding problems faced by many residents across Ashfield. We will consider the environment in everything we do.

We will improve our public transport. Labour are spending £1 million on a new bus station for Sutton which will basically be the same as the present one.

We will improve access to youth services for young people. We also want better education and smaller class sizes. We will also campaign to scrap student fees.

We will explore trying to re-open post office facilities in areas where Labour have closed them. Other Councils have taken over the running of closed branches.

We will do all we can to help families and businesses through the tough economic times that we are facing.
