Ashfield Lib Dems have fielded Nine candidates in the forthcoming Nottinghamshire County Council Elections
Andy Fell, Sutton In Ashfield West
Andy is 51 and has been married to Wife Penny for 30 yrs.
He has been a Liberal voter since he became of voting age and joined the Lib Dems in 1991. Andy has been a councillor in the Parish of Selston (the largest parish in England) for the past 7 yrs, after the Lib Dems won a landslide victory, taking the ward of Underwood and all 5 seats form Labour.
Andy is a governor of the local school and chairman of the school travel plan. He is also the chairman of a local charity and vice chair and member of numerous local voluntary groups in the area, and helps run annual events in the village to generate community spirit.
Andy is a firm supporter of the Charles Kennedy regime and is also a strong believer in the EU. He also believes that when the time is right we should join the monetary union
Bob Charlesworth, Selston
Bob is 51, he is married with two children and has one grandchild. Bob worked as an electrician progressing to the calibration department from which he retired last year. He enjoys photography and computing and has been campaigning actively for the local liberal Democrats since the early 1990's with a good record of success.
Philip Birkitt, Sutton In Ashfield North
Phil has been an active Liberal Democrat Counsellor for several years and as such has raised thousands of pounds in grants for local facilities, environmental improvements in the area and local voluntary groups.. He is a member of the Ashfield District Council Standards Board and editor of a local newsletter
Tony Theaker, Kirkby In Ashfield South
Tony is 29 and lives and works locally to Annesely Woodhouse. He has a degree in Ancient History and continues to study part time for a masters degree. He has campaigned for the Liberal Democrats in European elections and By-Elections. His interests lie in Education and Social Justice.

Penny is 49 and has been married to husband Andy for 30 yrs. They have 2 children & 5 grandchildren. Penny & Andy have lived in Underwood for 21 years. Penny has been a Parish Councillor for 7 years. Penny owns her own business and has been self employed for 16 years. She is also in several local voluntary groups in the village. Penny believes in having more teachers, nurses and policemen and hopes this will be so in the future.
