Lynn Featherstone MP and Jason Zadrozny are campaigning hard to stop knife crime in Ashfield and Eastwood
Violent knife crime is on the rise is Ashfield. In recent weeks there have been a spate of incidents in Stanton Hill alone. Now local Councillor Jason Zadrozny is demanding action to make our streets safer.
Last week Jason Zadrozny met with Shadow Cabinet member Lynne Featherstone MP to discuss the spiraling problem. Ms Featherstone is a longstanding campaigner against knife crime, and has suffered similar incidents in her own constituency.
Councillor Zadrozny said, "For too long we have been let down when it comes to crime and anti-social behaviour. We have an MP who lives miles away in his Derbyshire mansion and does not speak up properly for local people. It's time for it to stop. We need action now before any more harm is done, not more empty promises."
Jason is also demanding more police back on the beat locally. "We need more bobbies back on the beat," he said, "our police should not be bound to their desk with red tape, they should be out catching criminals."
Jason, who is due to go in a head to head battle with Labour MP Geoff Hoon at the next General Election has vowed to make tough action on local crime a key pledge.
Councillor Zadrozny has written to the Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police insisting on urgent action to take back our streets, parks and town centres from those causing trouble.
A petition will be handed in to the Chief Constable too, calling for our fair share of police patrolling our local streets. To sign it use the button on the left hand side of the page.
