Local Liberal Democrat campaigners Jason Zadrozny and Keith Longdon met on site in Eastwood recently to discuss the town's traffic issues.
The Lib Dem team have raised the issue as a priority at County Hall and are putting pressure on Tory bosses there to solve the traffic that is choking Eastwood.
Jason and Keith have had a major success by getting the Council to agree to install an interactive speed sign on Nottingham Road East, heading into Eastwood from Giltbrook. They are pressing for a crossing there too, at the foot at Newthorpe Common.
Jason said, This is just the start of the solution, Eastwood needs more crossings throughout the town. We also need a solution to the heavy traffic coming from the Ikea retail park island. Traffic snarls up the roads from there, right up through Eastwood and into Brinsley.
Eastwood is a great place to work, shop or visit. The council needs to do more to help struggling town centres. There are solutions to these traffic problems which could easily be put in place, making Eastwood and even more inviting and vibrant town.
