Tory bosses have pulled the plug on Ashcroft Care Home in Sutton.
The County Council have announced they will close the home soon forcing many elderly residents to move. Some residents are over one hundred years old and are at the most frail and vulnerable time of their lives.
Jason Zadrozny has been campaigning against this closure for over two years. He handed in a petition to save Ashfield and Eastwood's care homes to the County Council with over 2000 signatures. In total over 15,000 people signed petitions in protest to the County's axing of our local elderly persons care home and those peoples views have been completely ignored!
Conservative bosses at County Hall say elderly people cost too much. The cost to bring Ashcroft up to a safe standard is £93,000. The Tories say this is too much, yet they have spent £160,000 on creating new cabinet positions for - themselves!
Liberal Democrats believe this money should be spent on protecting our most vulnerable and needy members of our society.
Jason Zadrozny said, "It is a disgrace that money is being torn away from the elderly and frail to be used to create more paid jobs for Conservative Councillors. This is exactly the sort of policies people expected from the Tories of the 80's and 90's. It is now very clear that the new Conservatives may well look different, but they are the same wolves in sheep's clothing. They may have a smiling veneer but are masking the same nasty and cut throat ideas underneath."
Ashfield and Eastwood residents face a clear choice. Neglect and incompetence from Labour. Cuts, service reductions, and ruthless self service from the Conservatives. Or hard work, common sense ideas and all year round hard work and action from Jason Zadrozny and the local Liberal Democrat Team.
