Local Liberal Democrat Jason Zadrozny is aiming to be Ashfield and Eastwood's new MP
As Gordon Brown announces the start of the general election campaign,
local Liberal Democrat campaigner Jason Zadrozny is fighting to win
Ashfield and Eastwood.
Jason Zadrozny said: "I'm delighted to have the chance to stand for
Ashfield and Eastwood.
"I was born here, and lived here all of my life, I use local services
and I believe it is vital that Ashfield and Eastwood has a local
champion who will fight for our area.
"I will be campaigning for Income tax cuts for people on middle and
low incomes, paid for by closing tax loopholes used by the very rich.
"I want to see more police officers on local streets, paid for by
scrapping Labour's costly and unworkable ID card scheme.
"I support Lib Dem plans to invest an extra £2.5 billion in schools to
give every child a fair start in life.
"Pensioners deserve a far better deal than they are getting at the
moment and I will campaign to restore the link between pensions and
earnings.
"Talking to local people, it is clear that they are angry and
disillusioned with Gordon Brown's Labour government. They want an MP
who will stand up for Ashfield and Eastwood. Many people want a
change.
"In Ashfield and Eastwood we have a real chance for change.
"Recent elections in Ashfield and Eastwood have been close contests
between the Liberal Democrats and Labour.
The Conservatives are out of the race, in the most recent set of
elections the Tories came a poor third in the constituency.
"Labour's Geoff Hoon has chosen not to fight the seat. He was
disgraced by the 'expenses' issue, and flipped his homes.
"Labour have chosen to parachute a London based journalist to try to
defend their seat. But Labour activists have already said that she
will be 'an absentee MP' just like Geoff Hoon was.
The only chance for a change that works for you here is to vote for
the Liberal Democrats and hard working local councillor Jason
Zadrozny.
