Speed could Kill in Kirkby

10.25.41pm GMT Thu 9th Mar 2006

The Ashfield Liberal Democrats recently conducted a residents survey in West Kirkby, and unearthed some serious concerns amongst the local community.

The most serious finding was the concern amongst residents regarding speeding on the Southwell Lane area. Numerous survey sheets mentioned the problem, and one resident even told our campaign team that a member of her family had been run down on the road.

"As a previous victim of a road traffic accident, I know how serious these issues are" said local campaigner Austin Rathe "It's not about punishing innocent motorists, but protecting people, especially children, when they are only a few feet from their front door".
