Local Campaigner selected for key by-election11.19.11am GMT Fri 9th Feb 2007
Sutton North Liberal Democrats have selected local campaigner Jason Zadrozny to be their candidate in the Sutton North County Council by-election. Jason Zadrozny currently lives in Stanton Hill and has lived locally all of his life. He is Sutton born and bred. He is an active member of the local community. Over the past year he has conducted a major crime survey over the whole of Sutton North. He has also run a number of local campaigns including running a petition to save Stanton Hill's services and another petition to make the roads near Daneswood School safer. Jason Zadrozny said "People in Sutton North need a councillor who will fight for them. Local people I speak to are sick and tired of a Labour controlled District Council, County Council and government, letting Sutton down. Council Tax bills keep going up and up, but what do local people see for the money they have paid? Lib Dem Councillor Austin Rathe said "Jason is a local man and would make a first-rate councillor for the area. Last July I beat Labour in the Hucknall West by-election because local people were fed up of being taken for granted by Labour bosses. Now the people of Sutton North have the chance to send New Labour a message. The election in Sutton North looks set to be a really close race between Jason as the Lib Dem candidate and New Labour. The Conservatives are out of the race, they don't even have a single councillor on Ashfield District Council."
